Information Fusion

Within the rail sector, it is increasingly recognised that various modes of inspection provide complementary information on track condition and the reasons underlying visible problems are best understood by combining information from multiple sources. For example, in areas with geometry defects, a higher number of missing fasteners and overhead line defects have been found. Our information management tools allow the import of information from other modes of inspection.A number of statistical, signal processing, data mining and information fusion tools are provided for analysing track geometry, rail profile, overhead lines, ultrasonics, video, and ground penetrating radar data. The system has a core knowledge-based system containing semantic domain knowledge for defect diagnosis, prioritising maintenance and asset management. Its predictive maintenance module uses historic information to predict changes in rail track.
